This 2008, the 20th anniversary of The Restaurant Show, which is now a mainstay on the event agenda of those in the catering industry. This year's show will include demonstrations, workshops, competitions and interactive stands. More than 300 suppliers of food, spirits, interiors and tableware will be present demonstrating their latest products. Experts will also be offering advice on business needs as well as design and technology.

Running from the 6th to the 8th of October at Earls Court Two in London, the Restaurant Show 2008 will stage a national chef of the year competition and feature a central food market. Two other major culinary competitions that will be staged here on separate days include the World Chocolate Masters and the Compass Group Chef of the Year competition, where chefs of all skill levels compete to prepare a fine dining meal with a fixed list of ingredients. On a special stage, everyday, twenty of the best chefs in the world, such as Michael Caines and Atul Kochhar, will demonstrate their culinary skills once every hour.

The Food and Drink Match will offer insights into the correct pairing of food and drink with samples of beer and chocolate as well as oysters and wine. In addition, two restaurants run by London restaurant celebrities will be available on-site. At the Icon Bar, visitors can sample premium drinks from the Icon Range as they listen to expert sommeliers or mixologists explain the foundation of their success. A similar concept is available at The Premier Lounge, where industry VIPs can network in relaxed comfort. Discovery tasting will host a number of international spirits for sampling.

Apart from food and drink, a wide range of equipment will be on display, including everything from air conditioning and security systems to cooking equipment and tableware. Guests can also view new concepts for interiors, which they can implement in their own restaurants. Representatives of business services will be available to promote their offerings for marketing, training, and legal and insurance services. The trade show is set to provide more entertainment for visitors during this 20th anniversary celebration than ever before. Suppliers can directly target their clients in any sector of the restaurant industry from mid-range and fine dining establishments to independent or branded chains. The event aims to offer visitors a springboard for innovative new concepts and styles by providing inspiration from experts in the industry.
