Anyone else having issues with mysqli?

  • Using mysql, I have no issues (at least with the database) whatsoever. Changing to mysqli, it seems that any sort of load causes it to fail pretty repeatedly, pumping out lots of errors similar to this:

MySQL Error : MySQL server has gone away
    Error Number : 2006
    Date : Monday, June 26th 2006 @ 04:54:55 PM
    Script : http://www.mydomain.org/forums/private.php
    Referrer : http://www.mydomain.org/forums/private.php?do=newpm&pmid=25707
    IP Address : 198.178.8.81
    Username : (removed by me)
    Classname : vB_Database_MySQLi

It did this during ImpEx as well as a search rebuild, and then even under normal operation once my users started logging back in. I have tried with MySQL 5 and 4.1, am currently on 4.1.20. PHP5, vB 3.5.4. Anybody have ideas on whether this is just a known bug, or something I need to sort out on my end? What might cause this? I could believe a MySQL misconfig if it happened under both modules, but the old mysql calls work fine leading me to believe it's a problem with mysqli.

  • This is a server issue. You'll need to contact your host about this. Here are the reasons for the MySQL server going away:
