MS SQL server & MySQL

  • Does anyone know of any issues in installing and running MySQL on a server that is already running MS SQL server? Would like to run vBulletin on this server but can not afford any conflicts.

    TIA

  • Thank you.

  • Both MySQL and MS SQL use different default ports so there should not be any conflict. Since both are Database Managers, they have rather heavy disk and RAM usage. If you have DMA disks and multiple channels, this shouldn't be a problem. However if you are using IDE drives and storing the data for both databases on the same drive, it can put a lot of wear and tear on it. You also want to make sure you have a fairly good RAM setup for these two applications.
