I was asked to resign from my preschool teaching job.....?
I was a preschool teacher at a Lutheran preschool and was asked to resign yesterday. I have never been wrote up or talked to about my job performance ever. I worked there last year and started back this September. I was not given a reason for them asking me to resign. The pastor of the church called parents and informed them I had resigned and in the same call to some parents corrected himself ans said that they asked me to resign he assured them all it had nothing to do with the children. One parent pressed the issue and he told her I had acquired credit under the church's credentials. I did not do that. I had a in home day care prior to this job and I had an LTD account and I had ordered from LTD under my daycare name and had it delivered to the church. My bill was also mailed to the church my name was on it along with the church's so he opened it. I am gathering this is what he is talking about the credit. Which anyone knows LTD does not require credit. I called and left a message today to the church telling him he was wrong in telling a parent that and please do not say it again. I work for the school district also in a town of 4000 and am scared it will affect my job it this goes around do you think it could? What should I do to stop this before it gets out of hand? Any advice would be appreciated.I can not draw unemployment beings it is a church they do not pay in on employees. It is clearyly a case of misunderstanding. You need to have a talk with the Pastor to clear this up. It seems that he is under the impression that you got that package using the church's resources; which you clearly state that you did not. This needs to be said in that meeting with the Pastor. Is anyone familiar with your daycare business? Does anyone at the church know what really happened? Can they come and help explain the situation.
Your town isn't that big either, so this matter needs to be cleared up right away.
If the Pastor doesn't want to listen, you may need some help in getting the situation resolved. Is there anyone that you can go to besides the Pastor? There are usually other Pastor's or a board that you can go to besides that Pastor if he is unwilling to listen.
I hope that this misunderstanding can be cleared up. If not, then perhaps it is good that you found out early that this place is not for you. You are being directed to somewhere else.
At times of distress, pray.
We actually should pray regardless of any circumstand, whether distressed or receiving blessings.
Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise.
An opening, a start of a new path for you...
This is a misunderstanding but I think the pastor handled it very unprofessionally. Being a pastor (servant of Christ if you will), he sure didn't behave as Christ would have. He should have come to you first when the bill arrived, asked questions and settled the situation.
I often order from LTD and you have to have a business in order to order from them. You said you got this through your home daycare. That should have been the address it was shipped to. I didn't think LTD would let you ship things to a different address than the business it was going to? Were any of the items shipped things that you used for preschool?
Like another poster said, set up a meeting with the pastor. Explain the situation. Bring any proof you have of your home daycare business and payment of the package. Try to come to an understanding. If possible see if he would issue a letter/statement to these families that your resignation was due to a misunderstanding or something and not incompetence in your professional skills.
Good luck!
