Is it possible that Americans will stop being complacent ,and become pro-active with regards to tax spending?

  • Will they stop watching American Idol , MTV, all the other rediculous TV shows,and start watching C-Span .If they watched C-span for 1 hour a day they will realize how bad they are being fleeced and who is responsible.

    They will continue going to the polls voting for the same ol' incompetent incumbent, if they bother voting at all. Some of them will vote because of their civic duty, not even bothering to know who stands where on what issue. And then it's back to the tube watching one mindless program after another.

  • If Americans were more aware of the spending and the taxation, they might think differently. Apparently it is not a matter of great interest to most people.

    I often wonder why people in liberal states are not more upset about the fact that their federal tax money does come back into their states at the same rate that it goes into conservative states, in general. Liberal states receive back less money in federal spending than they contribute. Conservative states, in general receive more than they contribute. This has been going on for decades, yet conservatives are always complaining the most about federal spending. Factoring out Social Security and Medicare, no state should receive more money than it contributes.


  • No, Congress and it's add-on bribes to bills inflate our spending. However an aware voter in one State can't vote out a Senator in an other State where the voter is happy their taxes are coming into their State. Perhaps if Congress had term limits the Tax payer ATM wouldn't be so bad but then Congress themselves won't pass that bill.
