What is a good gift idea for a baby shower?
My friend is having a girl and I want to find a creative gift, not just baby clothes or blankets.
Perhaps something for her. Maybe some comfy pajamas and slippers she can wear in the hospital
after the delivery. Also, maybe a basket of lotions and things like that. They sell Mommy and Me baskets at Babies R' Us by Aveeno.
but plane onezies and have every draw a picture on them. give colorful personlized cloths for when the baby is born, plus you can really use them, not just crap.
Honestly, the best gift I got at my baby shower was DIAPERS! I know it's not creative, but in addition to normal gifts I requested that my friends and fam also bring in a pack of diapers so we can build a diaper house with it at the shower. My baby is 5 months old and I haven't had to buy any yet! On another note, I've seen some agencies/hospitals that sell these baby gift baskets. They have all kinds of characters, layouts, etc. in a pretty tower filled with all the baby essentials.
There is something call one stock where you can buy one share of a company. I did this for my god son for 1 share of disney. They make a little money off it but its a neat idea to own a share of disney. (onestock.com)
Seriously get her stuff off her baby registry. That is what she needs otherwise she would not have registered for it. I don't know why people dismiss them. Diapers are always good too.
At my baby shower my friends bought a bunch of plain onesies and some fabric markers and each made a custom designed onesie just for my little one. I was so touched by the gesture - and they were so much more special than anything you could find at the store.
a baby bathtub full of goodies, robe, towel, washcloths, soap, an outfit, whipes, duckie, toys, bibs, thermometer, etc. :)
Get a wicker laundry basket and fill it up with diapers, wipes, bottles, pacifier, lotion, baby bath, qtips, etc. and then get some of that white netting and wrap it up like a present and tie it up with a bow.
Or get one of those diaper cakes
Make baby sitting coupons for her. You could even make them like money. That way when she just needs a break she can call you and collect on them. Sometimes I feel weird just calling up someone and asking if they would watch my daughter so I can take a nap or just have an hour to myself. Trust she will love them when her baby gets here,

You can add whatever you want on them to jazz 'em up.
How about making her a scrapbook for the milestones? This way she can just insert pictures. Busy moms sometimes don't have the time for the creative things they love to do (or would love to have)
I read this in a baby magazine, and I thought it was the perfect idea.
If you think about it, everyone will probably be getting something for the baby, but I think it would be awesome to get the soon-to-be mom a gift.
Something that will benefit her while she is pregnant, whether its a sleep pillow to help ease her strain when she is farther along, whether its an at home spa treatment type of gift, (her favorite body wash, loofa, candle, lotion, etc for those difficult days of pregnancy)
I just thought it was a great idea. The expecting mother will apreciate it father down the line. :)
Plus, with my baby shower, I had so many things for the baby, I didnt have much space to store everything! we had so so so so so many blankets, I have a whole stack my daughter hasnt even used, and shes 10 months old.
A spa package, or gift certificate
Does she have gift registry? Do you not want to go by it? It's usually things that she really needs. If you have money buy her a lot of things from it, don't forget to throw in a pack of newborn diapers (best gift). If you want different ideas maybe her 1st piggy bank, a gift card from the place where she's registered (which she can use to buy whatever is left after the shower, & there are always things left). Also, after you find out the baby's name you can get bibs, blankets, art using her name. Good luck!!!
A diaper cake is the most amazing thing and it is so much fun to make! You can find directions by just "google"ing diaper cake directions. These come out so cute and when I have made them, they have been a big hit. Don't forget to hide stuff in the diapers like cups, rattles, shoes, socks, anything really! That way they find it when they start using the diapers. A fun thing to put around part of the cake is a moby wrap and they are wonderful things to use! You can even carry twins in them! Hope you have fun looking!
find a local masuese who specializes in maternal massages. i got them when i was pregnant and swore i would get that for my next shower i went to they make you feel like a new woman. i swear i didnt waddle for a few hours after the massage lol.
I actually got my sister in law her hospital bag with everything in it for her. nghtgowns toiletries and bathroabe verything she will need
