  • I live close to an airport and have to deal with the sounds of jets taking off all the time when I'm in my yard. Is there outdoor noise cancelling technology like those available in some headphones? Where can I find these?

  • Hi darrenlu-ga,

If you are looking for an inexpensive solution, You can extend the
concept of a noise cancelling headset, to make an active noise cancelling
device that could cover open space. You might want to replace the pickup
microphones on the headset with more sensitive and directional microphones,
and hookup the headset outputs to a high powered stereo amp/external speakers.
Incase if you want to reduce the noise indoors, you may want to add some
filter to cut down the wind noise, reproduce the sound through wireless speakers
    that you can carry around.

  • I'm looking for non-headphone solutions that would cancel jet noises for everyone in the yard. Something more akin to noise cancelling speakers.

I've tried these out at the Bose store in my local mall, and it canceled most of the sound coming from the mall itself. I want a pair myself.
