What reacts with lead to change color and how can you extract lead from dried fruit?
I have to do a spectrophotometric analysis of the amount of lead in various brands of dried apricots.I don't know how to extract the lead from the apricot and then react it with something to cause a color change for analysis by absorption vs. concentration
help please! I wouldn't suggest you doing the extraction, and using UV/VIS, I think, that better (and more convenient) way is using AES or AAS spectroscopy directly on the sample. Pb has distinctive absorption in atomic spectroscopy, and if you make a calibration with some Pb solutions, you;ll be able to determine the amount of Pb quite precisely.
