What reacts with lead to change color and how can you extract lead from dried fruit?

I have to do a spectrophotometric analysis of the amount of lead in various brands of dried apricots.

I don't know how to extract the lead from the apricot and then react it with something to cause a color change for analysis by absorption vs. concentration

help please! I wouldn't suggest you doing the extraction, and using UV/VIS, I think, that better (and more convenient) way is using AES or AAS spectroscopy directly on the sample. Pb has distinctive absorption in atomic spectroscopy, and if you make a calibration with some Pb solutions, you;ll be able to determine the amount of Pb quite precisely.
