  • I put the new ground cord where the old one went, should i just use a pair of wire cutters and cut the old cord off or what should i do? I tired putting it where the white cord goes on the termanal block but I cant fit it in.

  • The ground goes to the frame.

The white goes to the neutral termination or center point.

Remove the neutral to ground jumper.

  • If you have it properly grounded with the new cord there is no need for the old ground. You may snip it off or unhook it completely which is the better of the two.

  • Let's get this straight.

If you had a "4 cord", (4 wire), cord and plug,

DO NOT replace it with one having only three wires.

If you had a "3 Cord", (3 wire), cord and plug, and

want to connect to a 4 prong outlet, it's doable, but

you must know for certain whether the old cord was

    "2 Ph. + Neut." or 2 Ph. + Gnd.

Hint: in the outlet box, a Neutral wire will be White.

If you don't know, don't mess with it.
